Exploring 3D shapes -- first we learned the names and attributes of 3-dimensional shapes. then we walked around the room identifying things that were the different shapes (bookcase = rectangular prism, tip of flag pole = cone, etc.). We learned about faces, edges, and vertices, and then we built some shapes of our own with pipe-cleaners. Finally, we took our 3-D shapes outside, dipped them in soap solution and ... made all kinds of incredible 2D and 3D shapes! This is a great one to try at home. What shapes do you see?
